The OCTA Research Team on Monday said there had not been an increase in Covid-19 cases since the start of the campaign period in February and until post-election day.

“Well, siyempre may mga nagsasabi na maghintay tayo up to two weeks – pero so far, wala pa naman tayong nakitang indication na may clustering of cases dahil doon sa recent election natin noong May 9,” he added.

Several health experts had warned of a possible spike in Covid-19 cases after election season due to the crowding in campaign rallies and sorties.

The Philippines recorded 1,118 new Covid-19 cases from May 9 to 15, according to the Department of Health.

The number recorded during election week was 0.3 percent lower than the previous week’s 1,124.

David said OCTA continued monitoring the country’s Covid-19 cases and the subvariants being discovered in other countries.

The Philippines has 2,908 active cases as of May 15. John Ezekiel J. Hirro
