The OCTA Research Team on Tuesday said Metro Manila was projected to go from “low” to “moderate” risk for Covid-19 by next week.

In a “Laging Handa” briefing, OCTA fellow Dr. Guido David said the research team was expecting the region to have up to 500 daily cases by end-June.

Medyo bumibilis iyong pagtaas ng bilang ng kaso kasi dati nasa mga 65 cases lang tayo per day tapos baka umabot na siya ng mga four hundred to five hundred by end of June,” David said.

“At this time, nasa ‘low’ risk [classification] pa tayo sa Metro Manila […] pero by next week we’re projecting nasa ‘moderate’ risk na tayo,” he added.

Metro Manila has 1,367 active Covid-19 cases as of June 14.

The region is under Alert Level 1 until June 15.

Metro Manila has 9.6 million residents fully vaccinated against Covid-19.

The hospital facility occupancy rate in the region remains at the “safe” level with nearly 25,000 beds vacant. John Ezekiel J. Hirro
