24 more Filipinos working abroad tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), elevating the total number of overseas Filipino workers positive with COVID-19 to 2,845, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) announced Friday.
Deaths due to COVID-19 among OFWs abroad rose to 340 after 6 more patients died while recoveries increased to 947 with 11 new successful patients winning the battle against the respiratory disease.
“The DFA personnel in our FSPs [Foreign Service Posts] continue to actively monitor the status of the Filipino community abroad and work to safely repatriate more of our stranded nationals home,” the DFA said in a statement.
As of Friday, 1,558 Filipino patients abroad were undertaking treatment for COVID-19, breakdown as follows by region: 139 in the Asia Pacific Region, 467 in Europe, 682 in the Middle East and Africa and 270 in the Americas. (RJ Espartinez)
