Provinces outside of the country’s vaccine priority sector, NCR-Plus-8, will each receive at least 15,000 vaccine doses before the month ends, vaccine czar Carlito Galvez, Jr. on Monday.
Galvez said the country would receive 1.5 million Sinovac vaccines this month, which then would be distributed to the provinces.
“Majority nito ide-deploy natin sa mga nagsu-surge at saka ‘yong mga provinces na hindi pa nakakakuha ng kanilang mga vaccine,” Galvez said during President Rodrigo Duterte’s Talk to the Nation address.
“Kapag pinaghati-hati po natin ang lahat ng mga probinsiya, talagang ang majority magkakaroon lang ng 15,000 to 20,000 ang pinakamalaki,” he added.
Majority of the country’s vaccines have been deployed in NCR-Plus-8, composed of the National Capital Region or NCR, Metro Cebu, Metro Davao, Bulacan, Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, Pampanga and Rizal.
The country has received 14,205,870 Covid-19 vaccine doses as of June 21, delivered in 20 batches.
About 5.75 percent of the country’s population have received their first vaccine doses, while 1.98 percent have been fully vaccinated. John Ezekiel J. Hirro
