The Department of Health (DOH) shared on Monday that the government is ready to hire more health professionals but there are no interested applicants.
Wala masyadong nagkukuha ng slots na meron tayo,” Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said during a virtual briefing.
Vergeire shared this information after being questioned by some reporters about the current status of health workers and their continuous clamor on overwork and understaffing amidst the rise of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections in the country.
The Health undersecretary said that hiring more healthcare professionals has been a challenge.
Meanwhile, looking at Sunday’s COVID-19 situationer report, 6,002 positions of the 8,810 slots for emergency hiring in 336 health facilities have been taken. Almost half will be stations for DOH hospitals.
“Nung una marami talagang takers. Pero ngayon I think nae-exhaust natin especially here in Metro Manila. Kaya tumitingin pa tayo kung anong ways to increase or augment health workers, especially in hospitals,” Vergeire said.
She added that they are set to team up with universities and institutions to tap their respective graduates.
Recently, the DOH faced a controversy for sending doctors to the barrios to work in private hospitals in Cebu City. Doctors to the Barrios Batches 36-ALAB and 37-MANDALA strongly condemned the directive of DOH and expressed their concern on social media regarding the need of doctors in hard-to-reach areas.
Vergaire reminded health workers of their commitment to serve.
The Health Department has been the subject of criticisms for the rise of Covid-19 infections in the country. Health Secretary Francisco Duque III himself was asked several times by senators to resign. (RJ Espartinez)
So many requirements..plus delayed salary for 2-3 months and promises were not delivered
does it include philhealth covid sharing?
Wag nga tayo mag tanga tangahan DOH, we all know the reason behind why there are no takers for this post. Matalino kayo diba? This is all about the law of supply and demand. I know kung saan din papunta to.
How can i apply for the doh nurse from mindanao
Compensation and benefits ang kailangan ng mga HCW and not volunteerism… You’re just making yourself so stupid…
Still government hospitals in the Philippines, imposed Nepotism, in hiring health workers due to it’s family relationship, despite the facts that, the country as of now, are calling for the application of health workers as shortage for hospitals manpower… trash the nepotism, hire health workers to fillup vacant post, do not let our health workers seek jobs abroad
It’s a nationwide problem for many years, yet govt have turned their heads the way again and again. Corruption still the main problem of the country and it starts from the top. Wake up govt this one is on you.
You keep on hiring nurses for DOH augmentation but I haven’t received those said benefits yet.
I’m started working as a Nurse II in May 21 for a 3 months contractual at Saint Anthony Mother and Child Hospital, Cebu City. On the said contract what ever the law said about the benefits they will implement it however since then I receive only the 20% basic premium an hazard pay of 7days (May 21-30) which is only 3,495 pesos. I haven’t receive the remaining Hazard pay, Special Risk Allowance, And Transportation Allowance wherein it is very disappointing. We asked if we are part of the new salary scheme which is from SG15 to SG17, and they told us that it us onlu for regular employees but it clearly says that contractual or Job order nurses are part of the changes but we’re excluded from it. Our salary is always super delayed it will be given 9-24days from.the supposed date to be given.

Give them BETTER SALARY THAN 500 PESOS as 500 PESOS a day is a slap on our faces, it is not enough! More benefits and GOOD WORKING CONDITION.
Do not exhaust your COVID STAFF, give them 3days off a week. Nursing care should not exceed into 4 patients in every 8 hour shifts.
Give them assurance that after COVID the government will still give them work.
I repeat 500 per shift is not enough and I thank You.
Pass the examinees who took the physician’s board last February so they can help.
Marami naman nag aapply, madami nkaming naka apply sa government but only those who know someone inside ang karamihang nakakapasok. Choosy pa sila ngayong pandemic,eh kung may license kc sana automatic na tanggapin no question like in other countries, license or registration is good enough.
