The Department of Health (DOH) on Saturday said it would no longer specify “fresh” and “late” cases in its daily Covid-19 reporting starting next week.
Instead, the DOH will only report new cases and present an epidemiologic graph showing cases validated within three days based on the onset of illness.
Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said that the new method aimed to reduce public confusion and provide a clearer daily tally.
“[Ito ay] para makita na lang ng ating mga kababayan kung ano talaga iyong mga pumapasok na mga bago at kung ano po talaga iyong true picture ng ating mga numero sa bawat araw,” she said in a Laging Handa briefing.
It was only in May when the DOH started reporting daily Covid-19 data with the distinction of “fresh” and “late” cases.
