Palace spokesman Harry Roque announced Saturday that no more cash aid would be given to poor households under general community quarantine (GCQ) in June, as the entire country will make the shift to less the less stringent GCQ and modified GCQ.

However, those placed under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) and modified ECQ in May will still receive the second tranche of financial assistance under the government’s social amelioration program (SAP).

“Itong buwan ng Hunyo, dahil lahat tayo ay nasa GCQ na, wala pong ayuda,” Roque said in the Laging Handa briefing.

Roque clarified that local government units can enforce ECQ on smaller zones, barangays or subdivisions, and families under those areas may still receive SAP assistance.

The SAP only hands out aid to households under ECQ, as more businesses and work are allowed to operate under the less strict GCQ.

The second tranche of the assistance will be given electronic payment channels.

Five million households have been added to the initial 12 million beneficiaries of the government’s SAP for its second tranche. John Ezekiel J. Hirro
