The official trailer for the much-awaited Netflix adaptation of the Filipino award-winning graphic novel “Trese” is finally out.

On Friday, Netflix unveiled the action-packed trailer featuring Liza Soberano’s voice for the series’ lead character Alexandra Trese, a detective who solves cases involving Filipino mythological creatures such as “aswang,” “nuno,” and “tiyanak.”

“Still can’t believe I get to be part of this. It’s an honor to be the voice of Alexandra Trese,” Soberano wrote in an Instagram post.

The series will also feature the voices of Simon dela Cruz (Crispin and Basilio), Eugene Adalia (Anton Trese), Christopher Carlo Caling (Hank), Christian Velarde (Nuno), and Apollo Abraham (Captain Guerrero).

The streaming giant also released an English version of the trailer that featured Filipino-Canadian actress Shay Mitchell, best known for her role as “Emily Fields” in the drama series “Pretty Little Liars,” as the voice of Alexandra Trese.

“I’m so excited to be a part of a unique and amazing project like Trese, and to voice a character as brilliant as Alexandra Trese. Philippine folklore is rich and fascinating, and I am thrilled to be a part of the team bringing this story to life,” Mitchell shared with Netflix.

The voice cast of the English version will include Griffin Puatu, Carlos Alazraqui, Jon Jon Briones, Eric Bauza, Matt Yang King, and Dante Basco.

The graphic novel, written by Budjette Tan and illustrated by Kajo Baldisimo, was first published in 2007.

In an interview with SYFY WIRE, Tan said the “main engine” of “Trese” was its retelling of Filipino folklore if they were placed in a city instead.

“You’d tame the tikbalang as they say, so if that was what he was doing in the province, what would he be doing if he moved to the city,” Tan said. “It was a continuous process of finding that character we love, and got scared of, and finding a place for them in the city.”

The six-episode series is directed by Jay Olivia and will premiere on June 11. Charlene Grace Lao
