Vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. on Monday announced that nearly one million doses of Covid-19 vaccines would reach the country on March 22.

“We have information from WHO (World Health Organization) that we might be receiving almost a million of AstraZeneca…979,200 [doses],” Galvez told President Rodrigo Duterte in a meeting with Cabinet and pandemic officials.

Should the shipment experience delays, the latest it could arrive would be early April, Galvez added.

The country is also expecting 400,000 doses of donated Sinovac vaccines to arrive in March.

The Department of Health is seeking to procure one million doses of Sinovac vaccines, which are also expected to arrive this month, Galvez said.

Galvez earlier said that the government was targeting the vaccination of all 1.7 million health workers to be completed this month. John Ezekiel J. Hirro
