OCTA Research Group reported that the National Capital Region’s (NCR)  average number of daily new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections has increased to 851 from July 16 to 22, while its  reproduction number increased by 1.21, which indicates sustained transmission.

The group said that the latest number is a 39% increase from the previous number of 613. The reproduction number last week in Metro Manila was .92.

Meanwhile, hospital bed utilization and ICU occupancy in Metro Manila are still low at 37% and 44%, respectively.

The research  group revealed the latest number after the government’s Covid task force declared a stricter general community quarantine (GCQ) with heightened restrictions in the NCR.. 

Meanwhile, Cebu City reported the highest number of new daily infections with 151, followed by Quezon City at 147, the City of Manila with 125, Makati with 74 and Lapu-Lapu City in Cebu with 71.

Adding to the list are Laoag with 69, Taguig with 64, Pasig with 56, Las Piñas with 59, Parañaque with 46, Caloocan with 44, Mandaue with 41, Valenzuela with 39 and Pasay with 35. Ronald Espartinez
