The Philippine National Police on Wednesday said 135 areas in the National Capital Region (NCR) have been placed under granular lockdown.
The areas were reported in 53 barangays of nine cities and municipalities in Metro Manila. A total of 247 PNP personnel and 452 force multipliers were stationed in the said areas.
The PNP explained that their role is to enforce security and adherence to minimum health protocols in areas under lockdown.
According to the PNP report, 80 of the said areas are streets, 47 are houses, six are villages or subdivisions, and two are residential building floors.
Metro Manila Council (MMC) head and Parañaque Mayor Edwin Olivarez had earlier explained that even a lone Covid-19 case is enough reason to implement a lockdown on a house or a condominium.
Meanwhile, at least two Covid-19 infections should be reported to order a lockdown on an entire street.
