Navotas City lifted its liquor ban on Friday, October 15, with the National Capital Region quarantine status changing from Alert Level 4 to Alert Level 3.
The city government put into effect City Ordinance No. 2021-56 that lifted the ban after the Department of Health (DOH) confirmed a general decrease in Covid-19 active infections in Metro Manila due to “rapid and efficient detect and isolate strategies and enhanced vaccination efforts.”
Since Friday, selling of liquor and alcoholic beverages within the city was allowed.
However, a previous ordinance prohibits drinking in public places, including roads and sidewalks.
“Pwedeng magbenta, bumili, o uminom sa inyong bahay o sa mga establisimyentong authorized na magserve ng alak,” Tiangco said in a Facebook post.
Mayor Toby Tiangco advised local residents to continue to observe health and safety protocols to further lessen the transmission of the virus. Ronald Espartinez
