The Navotas City government announced that it has been certified to be ready for the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccination program.
The national government’s Covid-19 Vaccine Coordinated Operations to Defeat Epidemic (CODE) Team visited the city to inspect the local government’s preparations for the vaccine rollout.
Part of the inspection team were Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Francisco Duque III and Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles who both checked the city’s cold storage facility and vaccination center at the Navotas Polytechnic College.
Duque lauded the local government for its vaccination plan as presented by the City Health Office. According to the plan, 20 vaccination sites will be launched in the city.
The health chief also commended the local government officials for their outstanding numbers in terms of positivity rate for Covid-19, which is now at 1.17% while active cases were only 0.7% of total cases.
Despite the good standings, city officials still plan to be more aggressive in their information drive to address vaccine hesitancy.
Navotas City is aiming to vaccinate 2,000 persons per day which will be divided into 100 persons per vaccination site daily. A total of 107,000 people are targeted to get the vaccine.

However, less than 2,000 have already signed up to get the vaccine as of this writing.
Local government officials reminded their local residents not to be frightened to get the Covid-19 vaccine.
Navotas City Mayor Toby Tiangco said that the city has already secured a pact with AstraZeneca for the purchase of 100,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccine to be injected to at least 50,000 local residents.
The city has also set aside P20 million worth of Covid-19 vaccines from AstraZeneca, Pfizer, and Moderna.
