After the whole Cebu City shifted back to an Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ), the national government has deployed more medical personnel and resources as support to fight the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) crisis.

National Action Plan (NAP) against COVID-19 Chief Implementer Carlito G. Galvez, Jr. stated that staff members of the Department of Health (DOH) Region VII were amplified, including nurses who were deployed to Cebu City’s top hospitals.

“Nagdadagdag na rin ng mga room ang apat na malalaking hospital sa Cebu para ma-accommodate natin ang mga pasyente at i-reduce ang waiting time para sa mga emergency rooms,” Galvez said.

Meanwhile, 25 high-flow nasal cannula non-invasive ventilators, 42,000 Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs), and 16,000 face masks were distributed to the city for its medical frontliners.

A new zoning containment strategy is currently in effect to identify the 19 critical zones with huge spikes of COVID-19 cases.

The Philippine National Police, on the other hand, said on Thursday that they will deploy 100 police personnel to Cebu City to execute the plans for the ECQ.  (RJ Espartinez)
