President Rodrigo Duterte has approved the nationwide implementation of the alert level system.
The alert level system was piloted in Metro Manila.
It will replace the community quarantines the government has been imposing to curb the spread of Covid-19 since last year.
According to Executive Order No. 151, the nationwide implementation of the alert level system will be launched in four phases.
Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Northern Mindanao and Davao Region will be under Phase 1.
Ilocos Region, Eastern Visayas and Soccsksargen are under Phase 2.
Areas under Phase 3 are Cagayan Valley, Bicol Region and the Zamboanga Peninsula.
Cordillera Administrative Region, Mimaropa and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao will be under Phase 4.
“The shift to Phase 2 may begin at any time after the effectivity of this Order, as may be determined by the IATF, but not later than the end of November 2021,” Duterte’s order read.
The succeeding phases will then commence every week until the alert level system is fully implemented nationwide.
The country, which has been seeing a downturn in its daily Covid-19 cases, has recorded 2,811,248 cases as of Nov. 11. John Ezekiel J. Hirro
