President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday said he had started packing his bags in Malacañang, even though he still has more than four months left in his term.

“Nag-iimpake na po ako,” he said in his “Talk to the People” address.

Duterte said he would be out of Malacañang by March.

The Davao native said he was planning to buy a two-bedroom condominium unit in Manila once he retires.

“Wala akong bahay dito [Manila].

Duterte said he was awaiting the day of turnover so he could experience the feeling of being an outgoing president.

“Never in my life did I—even during the time I filed my certificate, I really do not know what prompted me to do it knowing that I didn’t have the resources,” he said.

While he has said he was looking forward to his retirement, the 76-year-old president almost ran for vice president and senator last year.
