The Department of Health (DOH) revealed that the passenger of a Philippine Airlines (PAL) flight bound for Hong Kong who tested positive for monkeypox is not Filipino.

However, DOH officer-in-charge Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said they are still determining the nationality of the passenger.

The DOH is still confirming the nationality of the patient with the Hong Kong Ministry of Health.

He came from other countries as well.

Vergeire said that the patient only manifested symptoms upon arrival in Hong Kong.

PAL said that it had already informed the co-passengers of the infected person about the matter.

Vergeire added that they have already identified the close contacts of the passenger based on their proximity to the patient while in the plane.

“We are closely monitoring them, but up until now, asymptomatic itong lahat ng tao na ito,” she added.
