The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) reminded workers that they should bring company passes and IDs to work, as vehicles entering Metro Manila would undergo stricter screening.

MMDA spokeswoman Celine Pialago said that the screening of vehicles would include individual checking of passes and IDs to ensure only those eligible to enter Metro Manila would be allowed to pass.

“Mas dumami po iyong bilang ng mga sasakyan simula po noong Sabado dahil po kailangan pong isa-isahin at ikumpirma iyong sakay ng mga sasakyan, kung sila po ba ay kasama sa Authorized Persons Outside of Residence since nadagdagan po iyong mga establisimyento at sektor na nagbukas po ngayon sa modified community quarantine (MECQ),” Pialago said during the government’s “Laging Handa” briefing on May 18.

According to Pialago, more checkpoints would be placed at Metro Manila entry points to screen individuals entering Metro Manila.

Individuals who fail to present passes and IDs will be asked to alight from company shuttle buses or go back.

Pialago said traffic congestion was expected.

Metro Manila, Laguna and several Central Luzon provinces will remain under MECQ, where more businesses are allowed to reopen, until May 31. John Ezekiel J. Hirro
