Presidential aspirant and Manila mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno believes that Mindanao is the key to making electricity and oil prices in the country stable.

“So Mindanao is the key to our stability para sa langis, sa methane, at natural gas. So hindi mo na kailangan pumunta pa ng dagat,” Moreno shared to reporters.

Moreno said the Liguasan Marsh in the Mindanao River Basin contains natural gas and possibly oil.

“So nagpapatunay na talaga na ang Mindanao ang maaring magligtas sa ating bansa sa pangangailangan natin sa araw-araw at darating na panahon, partikular na sa langis,” he said.

Moreno brought up once again the P203-billion estate tax debt of the Marcos family, noting that such amount could help fund the oil exploration in the Liguasan marsh

“Just imagine, it would only cost around P2 billion to initially explore that possible Ligwasan Marsh na makakatulong sa atin na makuha natin initially ‘yung methane gas na kayang mag-produce ng sapat na kuryente o gamitin para makapag produce ng kuryente sa buong bansa,” he said.

“So magiging sustainable o kumbaga stabilized ang presyo ng kuryente, and presyo ng krudo, kasi hindi na tayo dependent sa pag-aangkat ng mga bagay na ito,” he added. Ronald Espartinez
