OCTA Research Team fellow Guido David on Monday reported that the seven-day Covid-19 positivity rate in Metro Manila decreased to 12.3 percent as of Oct. 22.

In a tweet, David said the Oct. 22 figure was 2.7 percentage points lower than the 15 percent on Oct. 15.

The positivity rate remains three times the World Health Organization’s (WHO) ideal threshold of 5 percent.

David said very high positivity rates were observed in Camarines Sur, Isabela, La Union, Misamis Oriental, Rizal, South Cotabato and Tarlac. This means the positivity rates in the areas were above 20 percent.

The DOH last week announced the detection of 81 Omicron XBB subvariant cases and 193 XBC variant cases.

Metro Manila has more than 12.5 million fully vaccinated residents, the most among Philippine regions.

It has 6,865 of the country’s 22,850 active Covid-19 cases as of Oct. 24. John Ezekiel J. Hirro
