Metro Manila will be under general community quarantine (GCQ) from Sept. 8 to 30, Malacañang announced on Monday.

In a virtual presser, Palace spokesman Harry Roque said that the government would implement granular lockdowns in Metro Manila amid the GCQ.

The government has been floating the idea of enforcing granular lockdowns since last year, saying they would be more effective and would preserve jobs and help revive the economy.
