The OCTA Research Team on Thursday said Metro Manila could see a fresh wave of Covid-19 infections as it saw a spike in its positivity rate.
According to OCTA’s Guido David, Metro Manila’s weekly positivity rate spiked from 7.4 percent as of Nov. 15 to 9.2 percent as of Nov. 22.
“Unless these trends do not progress, we could be seeing the start of another wave of infections in the NCR (similar to what we saw in June),” he said.
Positivity rate is the percentage of positive tests out of total tests performed.
The World Health Organization said the ideal positivity-rate threshold was 5 percent.
Metro Manila has recorded 4,549 active Covid-19 cases as of Nov. 24, with a week before December.
More than 12.5 million of its residents have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19. John Ezekiel J. Hirro
