Four cities in Metro Manila started rolling out their initial allocations of the Russian-produced Sputnik V vaccines.

The City of Manila, Makati City, Parañaque City, and Taguig City started administering the first jabs of the vaccine to medical frontliners, senior citizens, and people with comorbidities in their respective vaccination sites.

Manila Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna mentioned that they will use their supplies of Sputnik V to frontliners at Sta. Ana Hospital.

“Pagkatapos po nun, kung wala na pong naga-avail in how many days time siguro in 2-3 days, ay ibibigay na po natin ‘yan sa susunod na category,” she said in a statement.

A total of 196 medical frontliners have already received the Russian-produced vaccine in Manila.

Meanwhile in Parañaque, Mayor Edwin Olivarez said the city would only use 1,500 doses to avoid people flocking in the city’s vaccination center at Ayala Mall in Manila Bay.

“Hindi po natin ito uubusin ngayon para hindi po siya magkaroon ng congestion,” he said in a Teleradyo interview.“May mga araw po ‘yan hanggang maubos po natin itong tatlong libong ito.”

Both Makati and Taguig held their vaccination drive in Makati Coliseum and Lakeshore Vaccination Park, respectively.

The national government released 3,000 doses from the initial 15,000 doses of Sputnik V to the cities of Manila, Makati, Parañaque, Taguig, and Muntinlupa on May 3. Ronald dela Cruz
