Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso has authorized the release of a P38.4-million advance payment for AstraZeneca vaccines, the city’s public information office announced on Friday.

The amount is a 20-percent advance payment for 800,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines.

Previously, only advance payments worth 15 percent of the total cost were allowed by the government.

The limit has been exceeded after the issuance of the memorandum Duterte recently signed.

Manila entered into a tripartite deal with the national government and AstraZeneca to secure the vaccines.

“Parating na ang bakuna pero hindi pa rin tayo dapat maging kampante,” Domagoso said.
