MassKara revelers take note!

The 40th MassKara Festival will open on October 7 instead of the earlier the planned opening day of October 8, according to Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia.

“Last night (Sunday), I talked to festival director Eli Francis Tajanlangit and we agreed to adjust the opening day,” Leonardia confirmed.

He revealed that the adjustment was made because of his upcoming commitment at the Korean Embassy on October 8.

This year, the celebration would be about “like no other” as stated by Leonardia on Sept. 8 during the countdown of the Ruby Anniversary of the festival.

“This is a MassKara like no other even if we just simply think in terms of its being 40 years. This is a milestone, no doubt about that. (We have) seen MassKara metamorphose to what it is today,” he said.

This year’s festivities, themed “Bacolod, City of Smiles”, will run until October 27.
