Marikina City has completed the distribution of cash aid under the national government’s social amelioration program to 56,235 residents.
“One hundred percent ay na-distribute na natin. (One hundred percent we have already distributed),” Mayor Marcelino Teodoro said. “Yun nga lang, talagang marami pa rin ang nangangailangan (But still many still need assistance).”
Teodoro said big schools were designated as payout centers.
The mayor also distributed five kilos of rice and P1,000 cash to over 6,000 shoemakers affected by the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ). Marikina is known as the country’s shoe capital.
Recent relief goods given by the local government included formula milk, baby diapers, pasta and sauce, and chicken. (Jojo Mangahis)
