President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has tested positive for Covid-19, Malacañang said on Friday.

The positive test came from an antigen test, Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles said in a Palace briefing.

“He has a slight fever, but he is otherwise okay. Those who have been in close contact with him are currently being informed by the Presidential Management Staff to observe their symptoms as per the protocol,” she said.

Cruz-Angeles said Ilocos Norte Rep. Sandro Marcos tested negative for the disease, while the rest of the first family were out of town and did not have an exposure with the president.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said Marcos Jr. would be isolated for seven days.

“And after that, if the symptoms have resolved already, he may be able to go back to work and have his face-to-face activities,” she said in the same Palace briefing.
