President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has extended his congratulations to the Philippine women’s football team for bagging its first Asean Football Federation (AFF) Women’s Championship title on Sunday.

The Filipinas outclassed Thailand in the finals, 3-0, to complete their historic AFF run that also included them ousting defending champion Vietnam in the semifinals.

“Allow me to just send my best and strongest and most fervent good luck wishes to our women’s football team who have managed to reach the finals and are now vying for the championship of the Asean Football Federation Finals,” the president a video message.

”Ako at ang buong Pilipinas ay nasa likod ninyo, and we will be watching and waiting for the good result for which we will be congratulating you for. Good luck to you and I am sure you will do very well,” he added.

The Filipinas had a stellar first half courtesy of two goals by Jessika Cowart and Katrina Guillou.

Sarina Bolden drilled a goal in the 89th minute to punctuate the Filipinas’ win.
