Manila citizens who are caught drinking in public places will be nabbed by authorities, Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso warned on Monday.
Domagoso announced that he has ordered the Manila Police Department (MPD) to jail the violators despite the pandemic.
“Mahigpit po nating ipinagbabawal ang inuman sa kalsada. Inatasan na po natin ang MPD na kayo ay agad na hulihin kung totoma po kayo sa labas,” Moreno said on his Facebook post.
Domagoso lifted the liquor ban in the city on June 8, months after signing City Ordinance No. 8 which bans the selling and distribution of liquor, in compliance to the national government’s order to local government units to relax stringent quarantine measures.
Meanwhile, the Manila mayor on Monday signed Executive Order No. 34 adopting “alternative work arrangement in all departments, offices and units” in Manila in preparation for the Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) on August 4 to 18.
Offices in the city government that will be under full operation during MECQ, except office-based employees, are:
- Manila Health Department (North and South Cemeteries)
- All City Hospitals (except Ospital ng Maynila)
- Manila District Risk Reduction Management Office
- Manila Department of Social Welfare
- Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau
- Veterinary Inspection Board
- Market Administration office
Under EO No. 34, officials and employees who are senior citizens, PWDs, pregnant women and below 21 years old will be on a work-from-home arrangement. Ma. Veracel A. Martinez
