President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s inauguration on June 30 will be a special non-working holiday in Manila.
Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso on Thursday issued Executive Order No. 53, declaring the date a special non-working holiday.
The inauguration of Marcos will be held at the National Museum of the Philippines in Ermita, Manila, which also served as the inauguration site for presidents Manuel Quezon in 1935, Jose P. Laurel in 1943, and Manuel Roxas in 1946.
“It is but fitting and proper that all citizens of the country, in general, and residents of the City of Manila, in particular, be given full opportunity to witness and welcome this significant event in the life of the nation,” Domagoso’s executive order read.
Marcos won the presidential race with more than 31.1 million votes. Outgoing Vice President Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo trailed her 2016 vice-presidential race opponent with more than 15 million votes.
Marcos and his running-mate, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, were declared winners of the May 9 presidential and vice-presidential elections on May 25. John Ezekiel J. Hirro
