Mandaluyong City has paid a 20% down payment to AstraZeneca for the 150,000 doses of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccine it has procured, according to the city public information office. 

Mandaluyong City PIO said in a Facebook post that the amount was paid to the pharmaceutical company last Monday. 

“Ang Pamahalaang Lungsod ng Mandaluyong ay nakapagbigay na ng 20% down payment kahapon, February 22 sa AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals Philippines para sa pagbili ng 150,000 doses ng Covid-19 vaccine,” it said.

“Ang kaganapang ito ay patunay na lahat ng nakapag-rehistro ay mabibigyan ng libreng bakuna kapag nai-deliver na ang mga Covid-19 vaccines,” it added.

Currently, the city posted 34,402 registered individuals who will participate in the vaccination drive with Mayor Menchie Abalos advising her constituents to register. 

Meanwhile, San Juan City also announced that the city has already paid a down payment for its order of 100,000 Covid-19 vaccines also from AstraZeneca.

Mandaluyong City has recorded 6,606 Covid-19 infections as of Tuesday: 6,293 recovered while 203 died. Ronald dela Cruz
