Malacañang’s official website, which houses the repositories of the Philippine Museum and Library, became inaccessible on Monday.
Former Presidential Communications Development and Strategic Planning Office Undersecretary Manuel Quezon III announced the sudden takedown of the Presidential Museum and Library website via Twitter.
“malacanang.gov.ph, where the repositories of the Presidential Museum and Library were, is gone,” Quezon tweeted.
The Presidential Museum and Library preserves, manages and promotes the heritage of the Philippine presidency. The site also houses the historical records of the martial law regime under the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos Sr.
Quezon’s tweet became an online topic with people expressing their concerns about historical revisionism with the incoming presidency of Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., the son of the late dictator.
“Please be informed that, contrary to reports that it has been deleted, the website malacanang.gov.ph is merely suspended following measures to update the content therein and improve its security features,” the Presidential Museum and Library statement released on Monday read.
It also assured the public that the contents of the website were not compromised and “will be made available to the public at the soonest possible time.”
