Davao Occidental was jolted by a magnitude 5.3 earthquake Saturday afternoon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said.
The quake struck at 2:15 p.m. Its epicenter was 84 km southeast of the municipality of Jose Abad Santos.
It was tectonic in origin with a depth of 101 kilometers.
The state quake agency said Intensity III was recorded in General Santos City and Kiamba, Sarangani.
Intensity I was registered in Davao City.
