UPDATE: Philvolcs updated the magnitude of the 10:10AM Aurora quake from Magnitude 5.1 to 5.4.

A magnitude 5.1 quake shook Aurora province and its surrounding provinces at 10:10 AM, Saturday, May 23, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

The epicenter was located at 15 km South of  San Luis, Aurora.  It has a depth of 7 kms.  The quake’s origin, according to Phivolcs, was tectonic.  The agency also warned of aftershocks.

Here are the reported intensities and where they were felt.

  • Intensity VI – Baler, Aurora
  • Intensity IV – Palayan City; Dingalan, Aurora
  • ntensity II – Quezon City

Instrumental Intensity IV was felt at Palayan City, Nueva Ecija.  (Rommel F. Lopez)
