Four earthquakes measuring 4.0 magnitude above jolted different parts of the country yesterday.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded the highest magnitudes of 4.7 and 4.6 in Hernani, Eastern Samar and Bani, Pangasinan, respectively.

The tremors were felt in Eastern Samar at 6:51 pm while residents in Pangasinan felt it at 8:13 am.

Earthquakes of the same 4.2 magnitude were felt down south in Sarangani, Davao Occidental at 6:42pm and in Columbio, Sultan Kudarat at 2:36am.

All the four tremors were of tectonic origin according to Phivolcs.

Meanwhile, earthquakes of magnitudes 2.5 to 3.1 were recorded in these areas – Columbio in Sultan Kudarat, Agno in Pangasinan, Jose Abad Santos in Davao Occidental, Malungon in Sarangani, Agno in Pangasinan, Santa Monica and Burgos both in Surigao del NOrte, Gov. Generoso in Davao Oriental, Abra de Ilog in Occidental Mindoro. (Jojo Mangahis)
