A magnitude 4.5 quake struck off Catanduanes on Thursday noon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

Phivolcs said the quake’s epicenter is at 96 kilometers southeast of Baras, Catanduanes near the Philippine Trench at 12:29 p.m

 It was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 32 km.

No damage to property and aftershocks are expected, the state seismology agency said.  – Rommel F. Lopez
