The Land Transportation Office (LTO) is considering cutting the length of its driver’s licensure exams to reduce the public’s reliance on fixers.

In a statement on Thursday, LTO chief Jose Arturo Tugade said he had given an instruction to “compress” the examinations.

“This exam reportedly takes about two hours. The agency is now studying how to shorten the exam,” he said.

“I believe that by reducing the exam duration, our applicants will not seek out fixers and will opt to take the exam themselves,” Tugade added.

Tugade said that aside from reducing the length of the driver’s licensure exams, the LTO was also exploring driver classifications and the addition of a driver’s license code.

The agency is also considering making the exam questions customized depending on the applicant’s license classification or driver’s license code. John Ezekiel J. Hirro
