The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has allowed standing passengers inside certain public utility vehicles in areas under Alert Level 1.
In a memorandum circular, the LTFRB said public utility buses (PUBs) and modern public utility jeepneys (MPUJs) would be allowed to have standing passengers.
Low-entry or low-floor PUBs may accommodate up to 15 standing passengers, while coach-type PUBs may accommodate 10 standing passengers, the LTFRB said in Memorandum Circular No. 2022-070.
Class 2 MPUJs are allowed to have five standing passengers.
Standing passengers are required to be at least one person apart, the LTFRB said.
“Imposed existing policies on minimum public health protocols inside PUVs shall be strictly observed at all times.” the LTFRB’s memorandum read.
