Small pets are now allowed to ride the Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2) trains along with their owners starting February 1.
LRT Authority (LRTA) administrator Hernando Cabrera said the move is aimed at making the train system more “pet-friendly.”
“Beginning Feb. 1, pwede nang magdala at magsakay ng ating mga pets sa mga station at tren ng LRT-2,” he said during a public briefing.
However, pets should be fully vaccinated, placed inside their cages, and should wear diapers while riding the trains.
Cabrera added that only small pets are allowed to ride.
The LRTA is now handing out information materials to the public as well as briefing their security personnel about the new policy.
“Ang objective lang naman natin dito si gawing pet-friendly ang ating sistema,” the LRTA official said.
