Land transportation regulators will launch in the National Capital Region an online transaction system that seeks to minimize face-to-face interaction in processing transactions, as a measure against the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic.

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) announced on Wednesday that the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) and the Land Transportation Office (LTO) will roll out the Public Transport Online Processing System (PTOPS) on June 16, 2020.

LTFRB Chairman Martin Delgra III said: “Kailangan na po nating masanay na ito na ang magiging normal simula ngayon (We should get used to this new normal starting today).”

On a pilot run from June 1-15, PTOPS will facilitate transactions of major LTFRB services, excluding the publication and hearing of cases.

In partnership with Pisopay.com, PTOPS will enable a user to create an account, choose a transaction type, and make an appointment online with the transportation agency.

PTOPS is also envisioned to deter corrupt practices by reducing human intervention.

Earlier, the department began pilot-testing the Land Transportation Management System (LTMS), which can process applications for renewal of licenses, requests for revision of records, and requests for Certificate of No Apprehension. (Jojo Mangahis)
