The Department of Health-Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (DOH-RITM) has allowed the Lanao del Norte province to operate its coronavirus disease (Covid-19) testing laboratory.
Gov. Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza-Dimaporo announced that a license to operate was given to the molecular biology laboratory of Lanao del Norte, which was rated with a perfect score of 100 percent, a Proficiency Test Result for SARS-CoV-2 Detection by Real-Time PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction).
The lab is located at the old Kapatagan Provincial Hospital.
The facility is the only molecular biology laboratory in Northern Mindanao and is solely financed by the Lanao del Norte provincial government.
To get approval, the province had to comply with requirements ranging from building construction, acquisition of medical equipment, training of laboratory staff and rigid coordination with other offices and agencies. Jojo Mangahis
