The Philippine government has decided to downgrade the quarantine classification of Laguna, Iloilo City and Cagayan de Oro City, areas under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) until Aug. 15.

In a statement, Palace spokesman Harry Roque said the three areas would revert to modified ECQ (MECQ) from Aug. 16 to Aug. 31.

Metro Manila and Bataan will remain under ECQ until Aug. 20 and Aug. 22, respectively.

The following areas will also be under MECQ from Aug. 16 to 31:

  • Apayao
  • Ilocos Norte
  • Bulacan
  • Cavite
  • Lucena City
  • Rizal
  • Aklan
  • Iloilo province
  • Lapu-Lapu City
  • Mandaue City
  • Cebu City

The following areas will be under general community quarantine (GCQ) with heightened restrictions from Aug. 16 to 31:

  • Ilocos Sur
  • Cagayan
  • Quezon
  • Batangas
  • Naga City
  • Antique
  • Bacolod City
  • Capiz
  • Negros Oriental
  • Cebu
  • Zamboanga del Sur
  • Misamis Oriental
  • Davao City
  • Davao del Norte
  • Davao Occidental
  • Butuan City

The following areas will be under regular GCQ from Aug. 16 to Aug. 31: 

  • Baguio City
  • Santiago City
  • Quirino
  • Isabela
  • Nueva Vizcaya
  • Puerto Princesa
  • Guimaras
  • Negros Occidental
  • Zamboanga Sibugay
  • Zamboanga City
  • Zamboanga del Norte
  • Davao Oriental
  • Davao del Sur
  • General Santos City
  • Sultan Kudarat
  • Sarangani
  • North Cotabato
  • South Cotabato
  • Agusan del Norte
  • Agusan del Sur
  • Surigao del Norte
  • Surigao del Sur
  • Dinagat Islands
  • Cotabato City

Tarlac was also placed under regular GCQ, which took effect Friday. 

The Philippines recorded 13,177 new Covid-19 cases on Friday, which brought its total case log to 1,713,302. John Ezekiel J. Hirro
