The province of Laguna has been placed under Alert Level 3, Malacañang said on Wednesday.

Acting Palace spokesman Karlo Nograles said that the escalation of Laguna’s alert level was “due to the rising number of Covid-19 cases in the province.”

“This shall take effect from Jan. 7, 2022, until Jan. 15, 2022,” he added.

According to the Department of Health’s Covid-19 tracker, Laguna has 1,689 active Covid-19 cases as of Jan. 6.

Laguna will join Metro Manila and the provinces of Bulacan, Cavite and Rizal under Alert Level 3.

Intrazonal and interzonal movement remain allowed under Alert Level 3, but vulnerable Filipinos and those under 18 years old are only allowed to avail themselves of essential goods and services.

Allowed at limited capacity are cinemas, social events, tourist attractions, amusement parks, recreational venues, in-person religious gatherings, licensure examinations, dine-in services, personal care services, fitness studios, non-contact sports and government work. John Ezekiel J. Hirro
