Typhoon Karding slightly intensified while heading towards the West Philippine Sea, state weather bureau PAGASA said.

In its 5 p.m. bulletin, the typhoon packed maximum sustained winds of 140 km/h near the center, with gustiness of up to 170 km/h.

It is moving westward at 30 km/h.

The state weather bureau said that strong to typhoon-force winds extending outwards up to 260 km from the center is expected.

In the next 24 hours, occasional monsoon rains are still possible over the western sections of Central Luzon, Southern Luzon, and Visayas.

Karding is also expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) Monday night.
