Tropical Storm Karding slightly intensified as it moved westward at 15 kilometers per hour, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

According to the state weather bureau’s bulletin, Karding could intensify before its landfall over Northern Luzon and become a severe tropical storm on Sunday.

Karding is the 11th tropical cyclone to arrive in the country this 2022.

The storm was last seen 970 kilometers east of northern Luzon with maximum sustained winds of 75 kph and gustiness up to 90 kph.

Karding may bring light to moderate with at times heavy rains over Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, and the northern portion of Aurora on Saturday evening through Sunday early morning.

The northern portion of Aurora, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Benguet, La Union, and Pangasinan may also experience heavy to intense rains on Sunday through Monday early morning.

Moreover, moderate to heavy rains with at times intense rains are expected over Cagayan, Ilocos provinces, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, northern portion of Zambales and the rest of Cordillera Administrative Region.

The state weather bureau also said that most of southern Luzon including Metro Manila, and the Visayas may experience occasional rains beginning Sunday due to the southwest monsoon or habagat partly influenced by Karding.
