Presidential hopeful Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso on Wednesday said his government would not be a mere rebranding of President Rodrigo Duterte’s administration.
The Manila mayor launched his presidential bid in a press conference at the Baseco Compound with his running-mate, social media-famous doctor Willie Ong.
“I can work with anybody: opposition or administration. If we’re going to define ourselves based on political colors, ang makikinabang ay ang politiko lang,” he said.
If he wins, Domagoso said he would be a “healing president.”
“While ours will be a government of reconstruction, it will also be a government of national reconciliation based on justice and rule of law,” he said.
Further distancing himself from Duterte, Domagoso said he would allow ABS-CBN to reacquire its broadcasting franchise.
Duterte had made threats to shut the network down before the House of Representatives, packed with his allies, denied its franchise application in May 2020.
Domagoso said he would continue “Build, Build, Build” programs that started under Duterte’s term.
Ong, on the other hand, said he would not be a talkative candidate and would only focus on the Covid-19 issue.
“I will stay as myself. Wala akong babatikusin” he said. John Ezekiel J. Hirro
