The Philippines’ coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) caseload increased to 348,698 after the Department of Health (DOH) confirmed on Thursday 2,261 new infections.

Indonesia takes over the 18th spot in the world from the Philippines for the most number of Covid-19 infections at 349,160. Philippines currently sits on the 19th spot worldwide.

Metro Manila, the country’s pandemic center, continues to post the most number of new cases at 566; followed by Cavite with 174; Pangasinan with 145; Northern Samar with 104; and Quezon with 98.

Currently, 48,040 active Covid-19 cases are undergoing treatment or quarantine: 84.6 percent are mild, 10.7 percent are asymptomatic, 1.6 percent are severe, and 3.2 percent are in critical condition.

The country’s recovery rate rose to 294,161 with 385 more patients winning the fight against the deadly illness.

Death toll stands at 6,497 with 50 new fatalities. RJ Espartinez
