An overstaying British national is set for deportation by the Bureau of Immigration (BI) after allegedly seducing a Filipina minor to have sexual relations with him.

BI Commissioner Jaime Morente said 58-year-old Kevin Victor Ryder was arrested in Angeles City, Pampanga last Feb. 14 by police authorities from the bureau’s fugitive search unit (FSU).

Ryder is also a registered sex offender (RSO) in the United Kingdom after being convicted in 2006 for child pornography by making and possessing indecent images of children. The court had sentenced him to 14 months in prison.

“We received a request from the UK authorities that he be arrested and deported due to reports that he was grooming a 12-year-old girl in the Philippines,” Morente stated.

The Briton, who had been illegally staying in the country for almost five years now, was also deported from Thailand for committing sexual offenses against children.

“We will immediately deport him not only because he is an overstaying alien but because his continued presence here poses a serious threat to our Filipino children,” the BI chief added.

“He will be blacklisted after we deport him so he will be unable to return to the country.”

Ryder is currently imprisoned at the BI detention facility Camp in Bagong Diwa, Taguig City while awaiting deportation.  (RJ Espartinez)
