Iloilo City and Surigao del Sur are now placed under a state of calamity due to destruction wrought by Typhoon Odette.

Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas announced in his Facebook page that the city council approved the said declaration. Under the said status, victims will be given cash assistance.

“Victims with totally damaged homes will receive ₱10,000.00 and those partially damaged, ₱4,300.00,” Trenas stated.

“More than ₱42-M shall be utilized for this financial assistance,” he continued.

“Our CSWD has inspected the homes for verification. Hopefully, this will be released before the end of the year.”

The mayor added that Senate President Vicente Sotto III and Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon, including the private sector, vowed to give assistance to Iloilo’s residents.

Under a state of calamity, the price ceiling is imposed on basic necessities and commodities.
