The Iglesia ni Cristo will open its huge Ciudad de Victoria development in Bulacan to house Covid-19 patients and health care front liners, the government said on Saturday.

The Iglesia complex, which includes the Philippine Arena, the world’s largest indoor arena, will have 1,065 rooms for patients and 475 suites good for two to four frontliners, said Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles, spokesman for the interagency body in-charge of the Covid-19 response.

“Yesterday, we received more positive news when we learned that our brothers in the Iglesia ni Cristo have agreed to let the government use the whole Ciudad de Victoria estate, not just the Philippine Arena itself but the entire estate, to isolate and quarantine Covid-19 cases.”

Aside from the Philippine Arena, the Iglesia has allowed the use of its Philippine Sports Stadium and Garden Suites, Nograles said.

He thanked the Iglesia executive minister, Eduardo Manalo.

Transport and logistics firm 2GO has also agreed to let the government use two vessels and a terminal to house 2,800 patients. (PressONE.ph)
